We’re really pleased to share that Taylor has passed his Level 2 Fenestration Installer apprenticeship, becoming the ninth apprentice to qualify through our apprenticeship programme here at The Window Co.

Fenestration is the trade term for windows, doors and related glazing. Taylor’s certificate confirms he achieved a Pass, a well-earned result after two years of learning the trade, putting in the hard work and gaining experience out on site with our team.

Learning from experience

Taylor joined us two years ago as an apprentice window installer. Since then, he’s been working alongside his mentor Andy, who has been fitting windows and doors with us for ten years.

Andy has taken Taylor under his wing, sharing his knowledge and helping him understand the care and attention that goes into a good installation. Having someone experienced beside you, showing you how things should be done and explaining why, makes a real difference when you’re learning a trade.

Taylor has done brilliantly, and Andy deserves a big thank you for the time and effort he’s put into helping him get here.

Why apprenticeships matter to us

With skilled window installers and tradespeople in short supply, we believe businesses like ours have a responsibility to help train the next generation.

We have a huge amount of knowledge within our fitting teams, built up over many years. Passing that experience on helps us protect the quality of our work and makes sure those skills stay within the business for years to come.

Taylor is now our ninth apprentice to qualify, and we currently have another two apprentices learning with us. At least four of our current installers started with us as apprentices, some as far back as 15 to 20 years ago. They’re a great example of where an apprenticeship can lead and how important it is to give people that opportunity.

We’re here for the long term, and apprenticeships are a big part of that.

The learning carries on

Passing his apprenticeship is a big achievement, but Taylor’s learning won’t stop here. He’ll continue working alongside Andy, building his confidence and experience as he develops further as a window installer. There’s always something to learn in this trade, even when you’ve been doing it for years.

Congratulations, Taylor, and thank you for all your hard work over the last two years. You’ve done yourself and the team proud, and we’re looking forward to seeing you continue to progress with us.
