Helen wanted the windows in her Sale home to reflect its traditional character. The existing white uPVC casements had misted up, and some no longer locked properly. Slate Grey uPVC sliding sash windows offered the look she wanted, complementing the brickwork and her original front door, which she plans to refurbish.

The Customer Challenge
When Helen moved in, she knew the existing windows were not right for the house. Their white casement frames lacked the traditional appearance she wanted, while misted glazing and unreliable locks gave her practical reasons to replace them.
She wanted the new windows to look at home in the property, with price and service just as important as appearance.
Our Recommendation
We explored both mock sash windows and traditional sliding sash windows with Helen. She chose the sliding sash option, seeing the additional cost as a long-term investment in her home.
Seeing the sash windows in our showroom helped her picture the finished result. Slate Grey, RAL 7015, was chosen to complement the brickwork and give the windows a softer appearance than the more commonly chosen Anthracite Grey, RAL 7016.
The choice brought together the traditional style Helen wanted and the practical benefits of modern uPVC windows, including easier upkeep.
Installation Summary
The project replaced the existing casement windows with uPVC sliding sash windows. The installation photographs show our team working on the front bay and fitting a window from inside the house, giving a useful view of the work behind the finished result.
Thank you to the installation team for their work on Helen's home. Her original front door is being retained for refurbishment and was not a new door supplied as part of this project.

The Finished Result
The Slate Grey frames and sliding sash design have changed the appearance of the front elevation, bringing back the traditional look Helen wanted. The new windows sit alongside the existing brickwork and original front door, helping those features work together.
For Helen, the difference is clear: “They've completely transformed the front of the house and brought back the traditional look I wanted. I'm absolutely over the moon with them.”

Customer Q&A
What made you decide to replace your windows?
When we moved in, the house had standard white uPVC casement windows. They didn't really suit its traditional character, so we knew we wanted something more in keeping with the property.
A lot of the windows had misted up, and some didn't lock properly either. Replacing them was a chance to sort those issues while bringing some of the house's original character back.
Why did you choose The Window Co?
Our neighbour recommended The Window Co after having their windows installed. Finding out they were local was another tick in the box.
We got three quotes from local companies, and the prices were all comparable. But after visiting the showroom, seeing the products and reading the reviews, we felt The Window Co was the right choice. I'm so happy we went with them.
What was most important to you when choosing the new products?
Price, looks and service were the main things, and I felt The Window Co offered all three.
Their price was comparable with the other quotes, and seeing the sash windows in the showroom helped me picture how they would look on our house. They looked amazing. The reviews and the fact that the company had been around for years also gave me confidence in the service.
What do you like most about the finished result?
They've completely transformed the front of the house and brought back the traditional look I wanted. I'm absolutely over the moon with them.
What difference have you noticed since the installation?
The biggest difference is how the house looks. The windows suit it so much better.
From Wayne
What stands out for me on this one is how much the right windows can change the feel of a house. Helen knew she wanted to bring back its traditional character, and the finished result shows why it was worth taking the time to get the style right.
We looked at both mock sash and sliding sash options. Helen chose the sliding sash windows because she saw them as an investment in her home. She also plans to keep and refurbish her original front door, which I think will finish everything off really nicely.
I particularly like the Slate Grey, RAL 7015. It works so well with the brickwork, and that slightly softer colour makes a difference. It is a good reminder to look at colour samples alongside your own brickwork rather than choosing a grey from its name alone.
Thank you to Helen for choosing us and to our installation team for their work on the house. It is lovely to hear how pleased she is with the result.
For anyone planning a similar project, my advice is to visit the showroom, compare the styles and think about the features you want to keep. With nearly 40 years of experience behind The Window Company, our approach is still the same: help people make the right choice for their home. No Pressure. No Subcontractors. No Shortcuts.
