The conservatory has come a long way in recent years, and continues to be a highly popular addition to many homes. This is largely thanks to the various styles available, from traditional to ultra-modern, and the versatile living space they create, that many of us are looking for in the modern age.

The Window Company offer a range of conservatories in different styles and colours. Plus they can undertake all of the work for you! But if you need a bit more convincing, here are 4 good reasons to go for it.

1. It’s a multi-purpose room…

Victorian ConservatoriesOr, in other words, it’s function is whatever you want it to be: dining room, family room, play room, entertainment space, possibly even a new location for your kitchen…or all of the above!

It’s extra square-footage on the overall footprint of your home, with loads of windows, which can only be a good thing, right?

…which can be used all year round
Your conservatory will be well-insulated, just like any other built-on addition to your home. And if you’re worried about radiators not working as part of the design, you could instead opt for under-floor heating. So there’s no need to worry about it being freezing cold in the winter.

In the summer months, your conservatory can get very warm (especially if it’s south-facing), so blinds are recommended. You could even consider glazing with built-in blinds.

Just make sure, when designing your conservatory, that the location of any doors don’t prevent you from being able to use the space as it’s intended!

2. Bring the outside in

Probably up there with one of the most over-used phrases when talking about home improvements. But it’s a good one, especially if you’re a keen gardener*, have kids, enjoy watching the birds…or just like the outside in general.

What’s more, the amount of natural light pouring in is a huge plus, and does wonders for your mood and well-being.

*Quick sidenote: If, like me, you’re not a gardener, and not very good at looking after plants, you can give them a fighting chance in a conservatory!

3. It can be tailor-made for you

You can choose any shape, in any size and any colour. This can be quite overwhelming, so The Window Company can help you with all of it – the team know how important it is to get it absolutely right.

Your conservatory is an extension of your existing home, and can be designed to suit the style and age of your property, whether you’re looking for a simple lean-to (Mediterranean), something a little more ‘grand’ (Georgian), a gable-end style, or a classic (and our most popular) design (Victorian).

4. A conservatory adds value to your home

And who doesn’t like added value? Cher-ching!

Another huge bonus is that 9 times out of 10, you don’t need planning permission for a conservatory, and can be added under ‘permitted development rights’. Certainly, there are terms to meet, so if you’re considering a very large conservatory, or if your property is a listed building, make sure to check before you go ahead!
