When you think about replacing your uPVC windows, you might not consider how that decision could positively impact your local community. But through our recycle and reward programme, that’s exactly what happens. Every time we remove old windows from your home, we don’t just dispose of the materials—we recycle them and donate the value back into worthy local causes. From grassroots sports teams to early years education, the initiative reflects our belief that a family-run business like ours should always give back to the place it calls home.
Introduction to the recycle and reward programme
The idea behind our recycle and reward programme is simple but powerful—recycle responsibly, reward locally. When we replace your old uPVC windows or residential doors, they're brought back to our Manchester HQ for sorting. The frames and glass are separated and sent through sustainable recycling channels, reducing landfill waste and serving our commitment to environmental responsibility.
The real magic happens with what comes next. The recycled uPVC is valuable—worth around £600 per month—and we’ve pledged to donate that amount, topped up to a minimum of £10,000 annually, to local organisations and charities. It’s a promise rooted in community engagement, offering ongoing support to schools, sports teams, and neighbourhood projects that might otherwise struggle to find funding.
The story of Raglan Road Playgroup
A recent recipient of this support is Raglan Road Playgroup, a registered charity that has been serving Trafford families for an impressive 60 years. As a cornerstone of early childhood services in Sale, this playgroup has nurtured generations of young children, offering affordable and high-quality early years education.
However, like many early years providers, they're contending with financial challenges brought on by declining birth rates, increased costs, and insufficient government funding. These pressures make it harder for them to continue delivering the same level of care and support that local families rely on. That’s why when Bev from Raglan Road reached out, we knew we could help in a meaningful way.
Our donation and its significance
As part of our recycle and reward programme, we proudly presented a £500 donation to Raglan Road Playgroup. The funds will go a long way in helping the team maintain their services and continue supporting families throughout Trafford. For me personally, this was more than just a cheque—it was close to home. All three of my own daughters attended Raglan, so I know firsthand the fantastic work they do in the community.
It’s one thing to talk about community support, but it’s another to be part of a circle that uplifts and sustains local families. Supporting early years education isn’t just important—it’s essential for a thriving community, and it’s something we believe every business should play a role in.

The impact of your recycling efforts
Thanks to homeowner participation in our recycle and reward programme, we’ve raised over £30,000 for community initiatives over the past few years. Whether it’s been installing windows at local community centres or sponsoring youth football teams, the collective impact is tangible. We’ve held charity car washes, scaled peaks, and run races—all to make a difference alongside you.
Your choice to work with us doesn’t just mean high-quality craftsmanship and expertly fitted double glazing—it also means you're contributing to an important cycle of giving. Every homeowner we work with is helping to fund sustainable initiatives and charitable donations that have lasting effects.
Looking ahead
We’re not slowing down. With each passing year, we’re expanding how far our recycle and reward programme can go. The more we grow, the more we give back—whether that’s through new community projects, additional financial support for local charities, or further investment in early childhood education.
If you know of a local organisation in need of support—be it a school, grassroots team, or community group—please get in touch. We would love to hear how we might help. Just send an email to wayne@the-windowco.co.uk and tell us about your project.
Conclusion
Supporting local organisations isn’t just a sideline for us—it’s part of who we are. As a family-run business with strong roots across Manchester and its suburbs, we’re proud to work alongside homeowners to reinvest in the communities we live and work in. A recycled window might not seem like much on its own, but together, we’re building something bigger.
Isn’t it time your windows did more than just keep the weather out?
