1st May 2017 marked International Workers Day (also known as May Day), and is observed as a celebration for labourers and the working classes.
In honour of International Workers Day, we asked The Window Company’s Big Cheese, Wayne, what a typical day looks like for the team.

7:30am – Up and at ’em
The trade counter staff arrive at the office at 7:30, and it’s between then and 8:30 when trade customers start arriving too, to collect their orders and products. It’s a busy start, and that’s usually precedent for the rest of the day!
The fitting teams also arrive at 7:30 and begin by collecting their paperwork for the day’s job. There are 4 fitting teams, and once each team is up to date with their workload, they then move on to getting their vans ready. The previous day’s waste, including old doors and window frames, are removed and disposed of (so it’s not left for customers to sort out once an installation has been completed), and all the gear they need for the day – from windows and doors to fascias and soffits is then loaded on.
Wayne will also be at the office, checking emails and answering any questions the fitters may have, then around 8:30 the fitters go off to their jobs. Wayne’s day will then be spent travelling to different addresses, the majority in South Manchester, to put together quotes for customers.
The Office
Angela arrives at 9:00, ready to spend the day answering calls, booking appointments and answering customer queries. Brad works alongside, and also processes new quotations. The office may be small, but it’s a hive of activity, with the phone ringing non-stop all the way through to 5:00pm when it’s time to go home.
Dean, meanwhile, will spend his working day out and about, working through his list of addresses requiring surveying and measuring up for The Window Company customers’ new windows and doors. He also looks after any previous customers who may need assistance under the rock-solid 10-year guarantee.
Home Time
5:00pm signals home time after a hectic day in the office and trade counter, and off-site, the fitters usually finish between 4:30-5:00, ready to go all over again the next day.
Then, after Wayne’s last appointment (usually around 7:00pm), it’s back home to the girls for the night. Fun being the boss, eh!
