DIY - Don't Involve Yourself!
Fitting new windows or doors is not an easy, straightforward (or quick) job, especially for an everyday DIY-er with a reasonably respectable toolbox. There are several things to consider first, including getting measurements spot on, having the correct tools, the possibility of needing to replace any brickwork- and that's just the (very simplified) beginning.
There are also building regulations you need to consider. Changes to your windows and external doors need guarantees in order to sell a house!
In conclusion
For the home improvement novices and enthusiasts, by all means, go right ahead with getting your hands dirty and having a go. But for those specialised jobs – plumbing, electrics and any building work – please don't gamble on a shortcut to save a few quid, as it can really cost you later on.
